Destry & Cory's Engagement Photos!

Whew!  We've been busy, having a great time since the bridal show, meeting with lots of wonderful couples.  It's been really fun getting to know everyone, and hearing all about their wedding plans.  And of course, we've been excited to book their weddings!  There are some awesome people getting married this year.  :-)  So far, we still have many dates available, so if you haven't called yet, please do!  541-342-4700.  We'd love to help.  In the meantime, I just had to post a few photos from a recent rainy-day engagement session. We can hardly wait to photograph this couple's wedding at the Blue Rooster Inn this July!

Thanks for a great bridal show!

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our booth and entered our drawing for a $50 gift certificate, and congratulations to our winner, Jennifer R.!  I couldn't believe it when I drew her name at random and saw her wedding date, 5-8-10, which just happens to be Aaron and my own 10th wedding anniversary!  We're pretty excited about the idea of photographing a wedding that day, and perhaps we'd even bring that couple some luck.  :-) Jennifer, we hope to hear from you soon!  To those of you who didn't win the drawing, there are still some great bridal show specials and discounts available, so please give us a call, (541) 342-4700.  We look forward to talking with you!  -A&A

Nicholas & Elise's Christmastime Wedding!

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful...apt words to describe Elise and Nicholas' December wedding at the awesome View Point Inn in the Columbia River Gorge!  Conditions outside were treacherous-- when we went outside for a couple of photos, Elise's veil flew OFF her head, airborne!-- but somehow, the howling wind outside just made the mood at the inn that much more festive, as the guests huddled up in blankets and toasted the happy couple and drank and laughed and danced around the roaring fire.  Congratulations, Nick and Elise!  We'll never forget your wonderful wedding!

Winter Wonderland Wedding!

Amanda and Andrew's wedding at the Melody Ballroom in Portland was truly magical! The gorgeous Amanda, with her fair skin and black hair, resembled Snow White, and Andrew, with his top-hat, gloves, and cane, looked like he'd just stepped out of Dickens' Christmas Carol.  The reception was a blast!  After some traditional dances, out came the black lights and glow sticks, and the party turned into a rave!  What a fun surprise. This is why we're such happy wedding photographers: no two weddings are ever the same, so there's never a dull moment in this line of work!

We love winter weddings!  In fact, we give significant discounts for "off-season" weddings, occurring from October through May.  We're also offering free engagement sessions (scroll down a couple of entries to see Amanda and Andrew's engagement photos!) with all Diamond Wedding Packages booked by Valentine's Day! Please call for more information: (541) 342-4700.  We'd love to hear from you! -A&A

Happy Birthday, Sweet Boy.

When I was 1, I had just begun.

When I was 2, I was nearly new.

When I was 3, I was hardly me.

When I was 4, I was not much more.

When I was 5, I was just alive.

But now I am 6!  I'm as clever as clever, so I think I'll stay 6 now forever and ever!

Amanda & Andrew's Engagement Photos

Amanda and Andrew are such an awesome couple!  We can hardly wait to photograph their wedding at the Melody Ballroom in Portland next month.  Taking engagement photos in the Pioneer Cemetery was perhaps unusual-- certainly a first for us-- but I actually think those images are really artistic and lovely.  To me, they speak of how fleeting our time is on this earth, and of how vital and precious love is, because of that.  The poet Mary Oliver puts it far better than I ever could:

I don't know exactly what a prayer is.  I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down into the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day.  Tell me, what else should I have done?  Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?  Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Natalie & Zack's Wedding!

We've been looking forward to this wedding, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Eugene, for a long time!  (Natalie and Zack's engagement photos were featured on this blog back in July.)  What a fun couple!  And the reception, at the Eugene Country Club with one of our favorite D.J.s, Barry MacGuire, was a blast! Congratulations, Zack and Natalie.  We wish you a beautiful lifetime together!

It poured most of the day, but when it let up for a few minutes, we grabbed the chance to take some photos with the fall colors, made even more vibrant by the rain.

We had a great time at the salon with Natalie in the morning.  Aaron took the above photo from outside, in the rain.  :-)

Have you ever seen a happier bride?!

People often ask us how it is that we can get a photo of 40 or more people, under bright studio lights, without any of them blinking!  The answer?  Photoshop magic.  We replaced the heads of 8 people in this photo, with heads from other photos in which they weren't blinking.  It takes some time, but it's worth it.  There is no extra charge for this service.

I loved this idea!  To help people find their places, each table at the reception was named for a place (Charleston, in this case) that Natalie and Zach have visited together, and decorated with photos from their trip.

Natalie and her maid of honor like to tell people they met in prison.  It's true-- they both work at the Lane County jail.

We knew it would be a fun party as soon as the mullet wigs came out.  I didn't tell anyone that Aaron's marvelous real-life mullet was one of the things that made me fall for him, back in the early 90's... but that's a blog entry for another day!

Bridal Show Specials!

The past weekend was a whirlwind!  We couldn't have done it without the help of our wonderful clients Jessica & Theo Taylor, and Tova Opsal (photos from her recent engagement session with fiance David Fertal are below!), who staffed our bridal show booth for us while we photographed a wedding on Saturday--thanks, guys!  Thanks, too, to all the show attendees who stopped by our booth!  We met some awesome couples, and we're really excited about next year's crop of weddings!  :-)  Congratulations to Shannda Nolan, the winner of our drawing for a $50 gift certificate!  Even if you missed the show, you can still take advantage of the specials we're running until the end of the month: discounts off of every wedding package, plus a FREE ENGAGEMENT SESSION with each Diamond wedding package booked by 10/31!

The Bellew Bunch!

CONGRATULATIONS to Brandi & Rusty Bellew, who were married on 10/10/09- what a wonderful couple!  I love the look on Brandi's face, as Rusty turned around and saw her in her wedding gown for the first time-- what a moment!  These two have SIX children between them, so one of the most fitting gifts they received was a Brady Bunch DVD!  :-)

...till the one day when this lady met this fellow, and they knew that it was much more than a hunch, that this group would somehow form a family, that's the way they all became the BELLEW BUNCH!

Special thanks to Natasha at the Eugene Hilton, and to Todd at Vivid Wedding Films, for being so awesome to work with, as always!  And thank you to the Eugene Hult Center staff for letting us take wedding photos in their lobby!  With such a big wedding party, those stairs sure made our job easier!  :-)

Rusty and Brandi both endured heartbreaking loss before finding each other, so everyone who knows them is especially grateful for their newfound happiness.  Brandi and Rusty, may your beautiful family live happily ever after, blessed in love, joy, and peace.  -A&A

Photo Painting & Eugene Bridal Show!

New Morning Photography ~ Eugene and greater Oregon wedding photographers ~ No travel fees in Oregon! ~ Digital negatives included!

Hi, everyone!  Just wanted to share another example of our unique "photo painting" technique!  Your photographs can be made to look like a watercolor or oil painting, to be included in your album or even printed on canvas for your wall!

The gorgeous, beaming couple in the image below, Jessica and Theo Taylor, will be staffing our booth at the OREGON WEDDING SHOWCASE at the Lane County Fairgrounds in Eugene this Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 to 5:00 (we have a wedding that day), so you can get the inside scoop from our customers about New Morning Photography!  We'll be in the booth ourselves on Sunday, October 18th from 11:00 to 4:00, and we're offering some great show specials... please come by and say hello!

New Morning Photography's New Digs!

Behold our cute little 60's ranch!  It's been a VERY busy few months, and we are extremely grateful for our wonderful clients' support! For those who have been following our real estate saga, YES, we finally sold the old house, and got ourselves moved to this one on the other side of Eugene.  We love our new neighborhood, and we have great office space in the new house for working on your photos!  Best of all, the new house is an easy walk to our son Miles' new school.  There he is, below, on his first day of kindergarten a couple weeks ago-- smiling that funny smile so that you can see he's lost his first two teeth!  (He wants you to know that his missing teeth are the real deal, not tooth blackening makeup like the hockey players used, below.)  :-)

Now for something completely different!

In a major departure from our usual work as wedding photographers, we had a great time recently with members of the Eugene Xtreme Women's Ice Hockey team!  The photos will be featured in a calendar which the team will sell as a fundraiser for desperately needed repairs at the Lane County Ice Rink.  A cute calendar for a great cause!  To order one of your very own, contact (I'll put this in code to spare her from spam) jessicaDOTerinDOTtaylorATgmailDOTcom !

Cristal & Kyle's Wedding at the Eugene Country Inn!

Just a quick entry this time, but Cristal and Kyle's photos speak for themselves!  A fun, gorgeous couple; a sweet, beautiful little daughter; a perfect venue (the Eugene Country Inn, one of our faves); and a sunny September day... who could ask for anything more?  The progression of photos with Kyle's nephews, the ring bearers, crack me up!  It took a while for them to warm up to us, but by the end of the night, they were totally hamming it up for the cameras!  Cristal and Kyle, CONGRATULATIONS to you and yours, and THANK YOU for making us a part of your wonderful wedding!

Jen & Chance's Wedding at the Eagle Rock Lodge!

Jen and Chance are awesome people!  We really hit it off the bat with them when we first met last year, so we'd been excited about providing their wedding photography (at the Eagle Rock Lodge, a fantastic wedding venue) ever since!

Several times throughout their wedding day, the skies opened up and torrential rains poured down... but Jen and Chance set the tone with their happy, laid-back attitudes, and rather than dampening people's spirits, the rain just made the wedding more unique and memorable!  Jen and Chance will have great stories to tell their grandchildren some day about their wet wedding!  And as photographers, we were thrilled with the magical mists and vibrant colors brought by the rain.

A highlight of the evening was the entertainment provided by some very talented FIRE DANCERS who coincidentally share our names!  We saw a note that Amber and Aaron would be fire dancing, and thought... "Um, no we won't!" but luckily, it was a different Amber and Aaron!

Jen and Chance, THANK YOU so much for making us a part of this truly joyous event in your lives, of which we wish you many more (and hope we'll be around to photograph them)!
